I've been using oil on my body for 30 years. Being olive skinned and a sun-lover, I saw how my skin absorbed and appreciated the nourishment of oil. The switch to using oil and all natural products came after a lot of research into the petrochemicals in our products, ranging form personal use to household cleaning, weed control, toothpaste! The list goes on.
Evidently most woman apply around 12 products to their skin daily, so best thing we can do is go natural as much as possible. Think about that, we cleanse, shampoo, condition, tone, moisturise, use body lotion, hair products, then layers of make up.....others are nail polish, perfume....the list goes on. How many chemicals are in each? And all these products go into our blood stream. The rest go into the rivers and streams, the air......
Diabolical I say!
I've tried most oils, solo and blended. It was all trial and error, I ruined a few garments... but always went back to it. I often mixed it into body lotion.
My first pregnancy (and second 14 years later) assured me it was a worthwhile ritual when I saw how my skin expanded and contracted without any damage whatsoever. I massaged oil everywhere 1-2 times per day. Almond was my favourite.
There are some hard and fast rules about Oil Glorious Oil:
- Don't use oil past its 'use by date' (3 months from opening)
- Don't sit oils in direct sunlight.
- Don't place oils near computers or phones; we all know about EMF destruction.
- Don't use too much, or you'll be a hot mess!
- Don't touch your face without clean fingers, ever.
DO...
- Store your oil in a cool, dim area.
- Shake it occasionally.
- Add essential oils for your preferred scent.
- Apply to moist skin (face & body), or it won't really absorb well. After a shower is perfect.
- Massage it in with love.
- Add a few drops of oil to loose scrubs to bind for easy application.
- Add to your moisturiser.
- Add a few drops to foundations to give a luminous glow.
- Try different oils every 6 months or so. Food for skin needs variety :))
